                                     2010

CSA 29 Parks and Recreation held a three day Halloween event, "The High Desert Nightmare Factory "for the community this year on October 29, 30, and 31st.

The 15 room Haunted Hollyweird House with maze was a huge success! All the Hollywood monsters were there including Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Pinhead, Leatherface, Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Frankenstein, Jigsaw, and more. Each room was spookier than the last.

The "Little Vampire" at the door scared everyone .(played by Robert Zachary Taylor) Some were so scared they didn't want to enter the Haunted House!

The Teen Scream was emceed by Chris Ackerman, who announces the Maverick games and the BMX group the "Furm Life" was lead by "Crazy Lacy " Furmage and his sons Corey and Chris and showed off thier trick bike skills.

The bounce house, good food and D.J. Mark's haunting Halloween tunes made for a festive and fun time.

Over 450 people came and enjoyed the spooky, fun, activities. People came from far away as Pomona and Wrightwood to join in on the fun.

We'd like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors of this great event.

                     L.V. ROADRUNNERS
            Lucerne Valley Biker Toy Run

                        October 9th, 2010

On October 9th, over 165 bikers traveled to Lucerne Valley's Pioneer Park to donate Christmas toys to our children.

Coming as far as Westminster, the bikers were treated to a Roadrunner ride pin and a wonderful home cooked lunch provided by the Lucerne Valley Roadrunners.

Every year for the past decade generous bikers have come to donate new, unwrapped toys that are handed out to the community's children in December.

The Roadrunners also provide Christmas stockings and an opportunity to see and talk to Santa at the Annual Christmas party.

          RED, WHITE AND BOOM!
  INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
                  JULY 3, 2010

Over 1700 people came out to enjoy our nation's birthday on Saturday,
July 3rd at Pioneer Park for the Red, White, and Boom! celebration.
Reese Troublefield and CSA 29 along with many community sponsors and local volunteers made this a memorable holiday for Lucerne Valley
residents and our neighbors who came out to join us.

The festivities opened at 6:00 pm with free hot dogs and soda for the first 500 guests, expertly prepared by several volunteers. Later free hot buttered popcorn and chilled watermelon was served in the community center to the delight of many, old and young alike. Several food vendors along with the Little League Snack Shack provided several dining options for the many celebration attendees.

The Lucerne Valley Fire Department was a big hit cooling off the kids with water from the firetruck's  hose during family fun time and games time out in the baseball field. The  Lucerne Valley Explorers that were on hand to scout the perimeters during the firework show, also had a booth set up providing much needed water on such a hot day for the patrons. The Lucerne Valley CERT team had their trailer on display along with a booth giving out information on the CERT program.

For an hour the many games in the park were hosted by the Big Bear Parks and Recreation volunteers. The castle bounce house was exciting for toddlers to the ten year olds. Children were running everywhere and really seemed to enjoy playing on the park's playground and finding new friends to play with.

The Phat Cat Swingers gave a ninety minute concert that was enjoyed
by everyone. Hits like "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing"
and "Mack the Knife" were part of their set.  People were swing dancing
in the grass, while the younger set, danced, ran and tumbled to the lively music. The Phat Cat Swingers are a local nine piece band that have quite a following and several fans from Los Angeles came out to enjoy them. The band has been asked to go to Germany in the fall for a swing band competition and are looking forward to it.

At nine o'clock the lights went out and the community got to enjoy almost a half hour of fantastic fireworks by Pyro Spectaculars. The Phat Cat Swingers played off and on during the display, which really enhanced the experience. People from Apple Valley, Adelanto, Barstow, Hesperia and Victorville joined in on the cheering and clapping for the colorful and loud show.

This was undenialably one of the best events in Lucerne Valley, and one with the support of the community we can repeat for years to come!
